CAVA DRIOPI

Type: Red, Dry
Category: Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) Peloponnese
Variety: 70% Agiorgitiko 30% Cabernet Sauvignon
Producer: Tselepos Estate
Region: Nemea

Where does it come from?

Old vines, in the well-known Grand Cru area Koutsi of Nemea, the low yield per hectare and the innovative viticultural techniques give the winery the best expression of Agiorgitiko and the unique terroir. The Cabernet Sauvignon was selected from Tselepos’ favorite vineyard in Tegea, Arcadia.

Matured for 24 months in French oak barrels, was then bottled and kept for 24 months in the winery’s cellar before the wine was ready.

Deep ruby color and a complex aroma profile including blackberries, plum, cherry, mint, green pepper, and additional hints of vanilla, cinnamon, licorice, chocolate, pepper, clove, and smoke.

The variety...

Agiorgitiko or Aghiorghitiko is a red Greek wine grape variety that, as of 2012, was the most widely planted red grape variety in Greece, ahead of Xynomavro.

Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the world’s most widely recognized red wine grape varieties. The first Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards in Greece were planted in the 1960s in Metsovo.

The winery...

Yiannis and Amalia Tselepos founded Ktima Tselepos in 1989. The estate is located at the southeastern end of the Mantinian plateau, at an altitude of 750 meters.
