Where does it come from?
Selected vineyards, carefully harvested in 20 kg containers, so as to avoid discomfort and breakage of the grapes during transport. Classic method of red vinification with extraction in 5-6 days, at 28 – 30°C. This is followed by de-fermentation and malolactic fermentation.
An aged dry red wine from selected vineyards of Naoussa. It has acquired its dark red color and excellent velvety taste after two years in oak barrels and another two years in the bottle. A wine with a full body, ripe tannins and aromas of dried fruits and spices.

Xinomavro (ksee-NOH-mah-vroh), is a red-wine grape originating in Greece, more particularly in north-western part of Greece, in the Emathia region of Macedonia, the monovarietal appellations is from Naousa and Amynteo. Xinomavro is generally considered one of world-class red-wine grapes (those in boldface in the varietals list to the left of the page).

The VAENI Naoussa Co-op is one of the most highly progressive wine-producing units in Greece. Apart from the premises, the co-operative owns a current acreage of 2,3 hectares (23 stremmata), 2 of which are planted with the Merlot variety and the rest 0,3 ha with the Xinomavro variety. Planting density is 3.300 plants per hectare. The vines are linear, developed at double lanyard and allow of short pruning. The rootstock onto which Xinomavro has been grafted is the 110R whereas the 1103P has been used for the Merlot.
