Where does it come from?

Calcareous soils with steep slopes, which provide them with good drainage. Altitude: 550-700 m

Zoinos Winery’s Vlachiko ferments in stainless steel tanks and is then transferred to French and American barrels, where it matures for approximately 12 months. The touch of the barrel enhances the spicy character of the variety and gives a unique complexity.

Ruby red color. Intense bouquet with hints of red fruits, plums, black pepper and bitter chocolate. Velvet in the mouth with vanilla hints and high acidity in the mouth. Gentle tannins.

The variety...

Vlahiko is a rare and emerging red grape variety cultivated in the mountainous vineyards of Epirus, Greece.

Found predominantly in the semi-mountainous vineyards of Zitsa and Metsovo, Vlachiko thrives in some of the highest and most rugged terrains in Europe.

The winery...

Nestled in the historic region of Zitsa, Greece, Zoinos Winery stands as a testament to the innovation and dedication of local vintners.

The winery’s journey began in 1954, when a group of visionary grape growers established the first small winery in Zitsa. This initiative was further bolstered by the Union of Agricultural Cooperatives of Ioannina, which, in 1974, founded the first modern winery in Northwestern Greece.
