Dr I. Voyatzis
Introduced Santorini Winery Wines at Cinque Mykonos
In July, Cinque Wine & Deli Mykonos hosted a special wine event dedicated to the wines of Santorini Winery, presented by Dr. I. Voyatzis, Chief Oenologist of Boutari Wineries, alongside Nikitas Prassas, oenologist and sommelier of Cinque.
Set against the iconic Mykonos sunset, the evening combined landscape, wine knowledge and authentic Greek vineyard expression in one unforgettable experience.
A Sunset Tasting in Mykonos
The event took place at Cinque Wine Bar Mykonos, in the garden setting overlooking the Aegean. Guests gathered not only for the view, but to explore the distinctive character of Santorini wines — shaped by volcanic soil, intense winds and centuries of viticultural tradition.
Dr. Voyatzis guided the audience through the philosophy and winemaking approach of Santorini Winery, explaining the structure, minerality and aging potential of Assyrtiko and other indigenous varieties. His presentation offered both technical insight and storytelling rooted in the island’s terroir.
Alongside him, Nikitas Prassas enriched the tasting with pairing suggestions and contextual commentary, bridging winery perspective and sommelier interpretation.
Santorini in the Glass
The wines presented highlighted the tension, salinity and precision that define Santorini’s vineyard. Guests had the opportunity to taste labels that demonstrated both freshness and complexity, experiencing firsthand why Santorini is considered one of Greece’s most important wine regions.
The atmosphere remained intimate and focused, allowing meaningful interaction between guests and speakers. Questions about vinification, aging techniques and vineyard practices turned the event into an educational dialogue rather than a simple tasting.
Cinque Mykonos as a Wine Destination
The evening reinforced Cinque Wine & Deli Mykonos as more than a seasonal wine bar. It confirmed its role as a platform for serious Greek wine dialogue — where producers, oenologists and wine lovers meet in a setting that respects both knowledge and enjoyment.
Events like this formed part of Cinque’s broader mission: to present the diversity of the Greek vineyard through curated experiences that connect people, place and wine.
The sunset faded over Mykonos, but the conversation about Santorini wines continued long after the last glass was served.
