Tasting Journey — Stop 01: Limnos

The archive of our June 2025 Limnos programme: four wines, food pairings and a producer evening at Cinque Acropolis.

Published 2025-06-29 · Cinque — The Greek Wine Journey

In June 2025, Cinque introduced Tasting Journey, a series exploring Greek wine through the places and people behind it. Its first destination was Limnos, an Aegean island with a long wine tradition.

This article preserves the programme of that first stop. The dates, prices, competitions and offers below belong to June 2025. The venue, Cinque Acropolis in Koukaki, closed in late 2025.

The wines of Limnos

The original programme presented four wines from Limnos Organic Wines for a month of discovery by the glass across the Cinque locations operating at the time. Its wine and food combinations were:

  • Natural Muscat PDO Limnos: dry white wine, paired with cherry tomatoes, feta and barley rusks.
  • Organic Assyrtiko: dry white wine, paired with pastrami, manouri cheese and cheese rusks.
  • Organic Limnos Red: dry red wine, paired with truffle salami, kefalograviera and Kalamata olives.
  • Moscato Rosato: semi-sparkling, semi-sweet rosé, paired with goat cheese, fresh strawberries and sesame pasteli.

The pairings were designed to make each wine approachable through familiar Greek flavours, while leaving room for guests to compare and discover their own preferences.

The evening of 25 June 2025

The programme announced a street-style tasting at Cinque Acropolis on Wednesday 25 June 2025, at 20:00, with winemaker Pantelis Tsivolas as the special guest.

Wine tokens gave guests the freedom to choose between glasses and food pairings, without a fixed tasting route. The announced package was four tokens for €25, with each token corresponding to one wine glass or one food pairing. Additional tokens were €7.

The format was informal and social, creating space for conversation with the producer and exploration at each guest’s own pace.

Wine stories and interactive moments

The programme included two short talks by Pantelis Tsivolas about organic wine and the story of Limnos Organic Wines.

A Wine Passport Card invited guests to taste all four wines and enter a draw for a premium bottle. An Instagram activity using #TasteLimnos offered a draw for two tokens for the next Tasting Journey stop.

The evening’s bottle offers

A pop-up bottle shop was planned for takeaway purchases and orders. The event-only terms were a 10% discount on two or more bottles and an additional premium bottle as a gift with the complete set of four wines.

A dedicated #TasteLimnos photo spot invited visitors to capture the evening, share a photograph and take part in a surprise giveaway. These promotions formed part of the 2025 programme and are no longer advertised as current offers.

The first chapter of Tasting Journey

Limnos introduced a simple idea: exploring Greece through a different region, producer and set of wines at each stop. The aim was to bring the vineyard closer to the glass, with enough context to turn a tasting into a story worth remembering.
