Goût de France / Good France returned on Wednesday 21 March 2018, inviting restaurants and French embassies around the world to celebrate French gastronomy. Cinque’s archive records our participation in that year’s celebration in Greece.
For a small wine bar devoted to Greek wine, the occasion offered a chance to explore what different gastronomic traditions share: care for ingredients, pleasure around the table and a welcome that encourages conversation.
Greek wine, a shared spirit
Our account of the event describes a contribution rooted in Greek wines and products. The connection with France came through the spirit of the occasion and the people preparing the experience.
We approached it as a meeting of cultures. A table can remain true to its own origins while being open to ideas, influences and guests from elsewhere.
Evangelia’s French connection
For Evangelia Tseliou-Prassa, co-founder of Cinque, the French connection is personal. Her French background is part of the family story and one of the influences she brings to the way we welcome people.
That relationship finds expression in attention to food, a carefully prepared table and the pleasure of sharing. At Cinque, it sits naturally alongside Greek filoxenia and our curiosity about the Greek vineyard.
A moment in our event archive
The original photograph remains part of this record of Goût de France 2018. It recalls a celebration of taste and exchange, and the personal connections that gave it meaning.
Atout France’s 2018 announcement documents the international initiative and its date. Cinque’s participation and personal memories are drawn from our own archive.
