ESTIA Awards 2017: Silver for Cinque’s Café–Bar Total Experience

Cinque Wine & Deli received Silver in Café–Bar / Total Experience at the ESTIA Awards 2017. It was an early milestone for our wine bar in Psirri and for the family’s approach to Greek wine hospitality.
The ceremony took place at Gazarte in Athens on 13 December 2016. As the organiser’s archive confirms, the 2017 awards edition was presented in the preceding calendar year.
A starting point in Psirri
Our account from that period describes wines from twelve Greek wineries served by the glass. The selection gave visitors a way to encounter different parts of the Greek vineyard without needing to choose a whole bottle.
Each presentation could open a conversation about a variety, a producer or a region. The aim was to give guests useful context while keeping the experience warm and easy to enjoy.
The experience around the glass
Greek cheeses, cured meats and other products accompanied the wine. Together, they offered another route into the flavours and traditions we wanted visitors to discover.
The welcome was equally important. A small shared space invited questions and conversation, helping guests find their own connection with Greek wine and food.
A moment for the team
Nikitas Prassas received the award on behalf of Cinque. The original photographs preserve that moment and the team’s celebration, as part of the shared effort of those early years.
For us, the Silver distinction was encouragement to continue the work begun in Psirri. It remains part of our history, alongside the many everyday encounters that gave the wine bar its character.
