A Unique Evening Celebrating Greek Wine at Cinque Wine & Deli Monastiraki
On Thursday, July 3rd, 2025, Cinque Wine & Deli Bar Monastiraki had the distinct honor of hosting a special wine event titled “Le Goût de Grèce”, in collaboration with the Trade Section of the French Embassy in Greece and Business France.
The evening welcomed 20 representatives of French wine and export companies, offering them an immersive introduction to the depth, diversity and contemporary identity of Greek wine.
A Journey Through the Greek Vineyard
Guests were guided through a curated tasting of indigenous Greek grape varieties, including Assyrtiko, Xinomavro, Malagousia and other emblematic expressions of Greek terroir.
Each wine was carefully selected to showcase the country’s diverse wine regions, climatic contrasts and unique viticultural heritage.
The tasting was led by Nikitas Prassas, founder of Cinque, certified oenologist and sommelier, with long-standing experience in wine education and the international promotion of Greek wine. Through clear storytelling and focused tasting guidance, guests explored not only flavors, but also landscapes, traditions and the philosophy behind each bottle.
More Than Wine: The Cinque Experience
The evening extended beyond the glass, embracing the full Cinque philosophy of hospitality.
Artisanal Greek food pairings accompanied the wines, featuring PDO cheeses and charcuterie such as Cretan graviera, feta, salami from Lefkada and other regional delicacies.
Each pairing was presented as part of a broader narrative — connecting product, place and people. Wine and food together became a cultural conversation, rather than a formal tasting.
For one evening, Cinque transformed into a “Greek Wine Embassy” in the heart of Athens — a space dedicated to dialogue, exchange and genuine appreciation.
An Honor — and a Responsibility
For the Cinque team, being selected as the host venue by the French Embassy and Business France was both an honor and a responsibility.
It reaffirmed our commitment — for nearly a decade — to presenting Greek wine with authenticity, depth and respect for its origins.
Events like Le Goût de Grèce reflect what Cinque stands for: curated experiences that go beyond presentation, fostering understanding and meaningful connection through wine.
