Terroirs & Residences:

A Luxury Wine Tasting Experience in Athens

At Cinque Wine & Deli, we design wine experiences that go beyond traditional tastings.
Our latest collaboration with Engel & Völkers introduced a new concept in experiential hospitality:

“Terroirs & Residences” — a curated wine tasting experience in Athens, where wine meets architecture, gastronomy and lifestyle.

A Unique Wine Tasting Concept

This premium wine tasting experience was built around a central idea:
each wine reflects a specific type of residence and a different way of living.

Guests were invited to move through three curated wine corners, each connected to a distinct architectural identity and sensory atmosphere.

Timeless Prestige Residences was expressed through a structured Greek red wine from Mega Spileo Estate, combining

Mavrodaphne and Mavro Kalavrytino.

A wine with depth, complexity and aging potential, chosen to reflect residences with historical continuity, architectural character and enduring value.

The pairing featured aged Cretan graviera, whose richness and maturation mirrored the wine’s tannic structure and layered personality.
As the wine gradually opened in the glass, the pairing evolved with it, creating a tasting experience built around time, balance and depth.

Contemporary Greek Estate Living focused on a modern interpretation of Greek luxury through Mouchtaro Rosé by Terra Thiva.
Produced from the rare indigenous Mouchtaro variety, once close to extinction and now revived, the wine represented a contemporary expression rooted in heritage.

Served from large-format 3L bottles, the rosé offered aromas of wild strawberries, rose petals, grapefruit and red fruits, with freshness and elegant acidity.

The wine was paired with slow-roasted smoked porchetta, prepared with Mediterranean herbs and gently smoked over beech wood.
The richness and intensity of the pork contrasted beautifully with the freshness and crisp structure of the rosé, creating a pairing that moved between power and refinement — much like the residence it represented.

Precision & Minimal Elegance Living was represented through Santorini Assyrtiko Selection Cuvée by Santo Wines.
A wine shaped by the volcanic terroir of Santorini, expressing minerality, salinity, citrus and precision.

The selected residence reflected the same philosophy: transparency, natural light, clean architectural lines and a sense of openness.

The pairing featured Niotiko goat’s kefalotyri from Ios, a traditional Cycladic cheese with salinity and intensity that elevated the wine’s mineral character and vibrant acidity.
Together, the pairing created a sharp, clean and highly balanced tasting experience, focused on clarity and precision rather than excess.

A strong symbolic connection was also created through light itself:
just as the Santorini vineyards thrive under constant sun exposure and harsh Aegean conditions, the penthouse residence was defined by sunlight, panoramic openness and uninterrupted natural illumination.

Wine Tasting Meets Real Estate & Design

The experience unfolded through three dedicated wine corners, where guests could discover:

- premium Greek wines

- indigenous grape varieties

- curated Greek food pairings

- and the connection between terroir, architecture and lifestyle

Each wine, pairing and presentation element was selected to strengthen the narrative behind the residence it represented.

Why This Experience Stands Out

Unlike standard wine tastings in Athens, this concept focused on:

- storytelling through wine

- experiential hospitality design

- emotional connection through gastronomy and space

- curated sommelier-led experiences

- and the relationship between Greek terroir and contemporary lifestyle

Rather than presenting wine as a standalone product, the experience positioned wine as a medium of identity, atmosphere and memory.

A Scalable Concept for Luxury Experiences

“Terroirs & Residences” was designed not as a one-time event, but as a flexible hospitality format that can evolve across different industries and environments.

The concept can be adapted for:

- luxury real estate presentations

- hotel and hospitality activations

- private wine experiences

- premium brand collaborations

- lifestyle and design events

This makes it a scalable concept within the growing field of experiential hospitality, luxury wine tourism and curated lifestyle experiences in Greece.
