From the cellar to your glass
How does a Savvatiano from 2021 taste today? What might we discover in a Malagouzia we chose to keep in the cellar? And what can different vintages of the same wine tell us?
The new The Cinque Cellar list begins with that curiosity. We are opening our private cellar to share wines we chose to keep, inviting our guests to discover another side of Greek wine.
The selection spans vintages from 2010 to 2022. White and red wines, Greek grapes and blends with international varieties offer a starting point for tasting and conversation about wine and time.
The white wines
The journey takes us through Atalanti, Attica and Aigialeia to Crete. Malagouzia, Savvatiano, Vidiano and other expressions of Greek wine feature in the selection:
- Malagouzia Dryos (Oak), Domaine Hatzimichalis, 2022.
- Savvatiano, Cinque Selection, 2021.
- Vidiano, Michalakis, 2021.
- Syracho, Rouvalis Winery, 2020.
- Muscat of Spinas, Domaine Paterianakis, 2020.
- Melissinos, Domaine Paterianakis, 2020, 2019 and 2016.
- Savvatiano Yellow, Nikolou Winery, 2019 — Savvatiano.
- Lightfoot, M20 Winery, 2019.
- Alepotripa Assyrtiko, Domaine Hatzimichalis, 2016 and 2015.
Three vintages of Melissinos and two of Alepotripa add particular interest to the selection. They invite us to explore the same wine across different years and discuss its journey in the bottle.
The red wines
The red selection brings Naoussa, Goumenissa, Evia and the slopes of Melitton to the table:
- Naoussa, Boutari, 2016.
- Château Porto Carras, 2010.
- Goumenissa, Aidarini Winery, 2017 and 2015.
- Syrah, Avantis Estate, 2017.
Château Porto Carras 2010 is the oldest vintage in this selection. Alongside it, two vintages of Goumenissa offer another opportunity to explore a place through the work of the same winery in different years.
By the glass, at the table or to take away
The wines are available by the glass, by the bottle to enjoy at Cinque, and by the bottle to take away. Begin with a glass that sparks your curiosity, choose a bottle for your table, or take a wine home to enjoy in your own time.
The Cinque team will help you choose according to your preferences and what you would like to discover.
