Cinque Wine & Deli received two distinctions in the LUX Food & Drink Awards 2017: Wine Bar of the Year 2017 – Athens, and LUX Excellence Award for Cheese Tasting Sessions – Athens.

The awards publication includes Cinque in its 2017 edition. The Athens designation belongs to these specific award titles and to that year’s results.

Greek wine at the table

For our team, the recognition connected with the everyday work of introducing visitors to Greek wine. A tasting could begin with an unfamiliar grape variety, a question about a region or a style someone already enjoyed.

From there, the conversation could turn to the producer, the landscape or the food beside the glass. Our aim was to make discovery approachable, with enough guidance to give each guest confidence to explore.

Cheese as part of the journey

The cheese-tasting distinction highlighted another part of the Cinque story. Greek cheeses, including cheeses with protected designations of origin, offered a way to discuss place, craft and flavour alongside wine.

Tasting a cheese on its own and then with wine invites comparison. Texture, saltiness and intensity can change the way a pairing feels, giving guests something concrete to notice and discuss.

The guests behind the work

Our original announcement also thanked the visitors who supported Cinque and shared their experiences. Their encouragement helped us continue developing the experience around the table.

A distinction was a moment to celebrate together and encouragement to continue caring for the next visit. The photographs on this page preserve that chapter of our story.
